The Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services shortly called as SSRS (or SQL Reporting Services) is a server-based reporting platform which is used to create Charts, Maps, Spark line’s, tabular reports and Matrix reports from the Relational, XML, Excel, and Multidimensional sources.
To develop, or learn SSRS reporting, you need BIDS or Data Tools software. Please refer Install SQL Server Data Tools article to understand the steps involved in installing the SQL Server Data Tools or Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS)
The Datasource should be specified already in the pre-built reports when you installed the appserver, though if you want to add new tables to the dataset, you would need to modify the query (use the existing default query as example and extend it to include extra fields or tables as you need – though make sure that report data in Epicor is configured to output this).
Using report builder myself as I have the wrong versions of Visual Studio installed for our SQL server version. Seemed lighter to just have report builder than yet another version of Visual Studio.
The Table GUID can be obtained from the Epicor System Monitor in the Reports tab in the File Name field. So you must either preview the report initially in Epicor or click on generate button so that the tables in the Report server will be populated.
